If You Buy A Car That’s Been In An Accident Will This Affect Your Insurance Rate? If So, Why?

I want to purchase this car. I think it’s a great price, but the dealer told me it’s been in an accident and that insurance paid for the damages. Since it’s on record and if I were to buy it would my car insurance rate be affected??

No, it shouldn’t effect it at all, as long as it was repaired back to factory specifications.

No, it would not have an effect on your insurance rate at all. The thing I would try and discover prior to buying the car is what type of accident it was and if the frame was at all bent! If it was a head on collision or a broadside hit there is a chance the frame may be bent and/or the car could have been listed as “totalled”. If it was, look elsewhere before you have a real problem down the road. The dealer should not be adverse to allowing your mechanic to check the car over. Good luck!

NO, the insurance rates are based on the type of car, driving record and the city you will register in.
